Greg Tisdale

Greg Tisdale is an Artist Member (signature artist) of the American society of Marine Artists and serves on the board of directors for the International Guild of Fine Artists.  He is also an Associate Member of both the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society and has been recognized and honored by the State Senate of Michigan for his cultural and artistic contribution to the community.

Greg received his formal education at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI, served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and worked in commercial advertising until 1986 when he began to focus on fine arts full-time.  He comes from a long line of mariners, shipwrights and business people who made their living by way of the sea, and has sailed his own boat on Lake St. Clair, MI, since 1972.

Tisdale's original painting of the Edmund Fitzgerald hangs in Mariners Church in Detroit, MI.  The commissioned original was unveiled at the 11th annual memorial service honoring the men lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald , at which Tisdale and Gordon Lightfoot were in attendance. A portion of the sale of each Edmund Fitzgerald  lithograph of Tisdale's goes to support the Mariners Church.
