Yves Parent

Born in Normandy in 1941, Parent is a graduate of Paris University and the Institute d'Etudes Politiques. His art materials are always with him. One memorable example was when he painted a watercolor of Cape Horn on location, while crewing aboard Kriter IX, the French entry in round the world races in 1981 and 1982. Parent has participated in many offshore races between 1962 and 1980 and has sailed in eight Fastnet races and also across the Atlantic seven times, twice in single-handed Trans-Atlantic Races from France to the Caribbean (in 1978 and 1982). After the 1982 race he sailed up the coast and fell in love with New England. Since then he returned to the East coast annually until 1993, when he then established a home on the coast of Connecticut. He paints the coastal scenery from Maine to the Caribbean and a few years ago in northwestern Michigan.  Currently his works are exhibited in galleries ranging from New England to the Caribbean, including the prestigious Mystic Maritime Gallery at the Mystic Maritime Museum. Yves is an artist member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) as well as of the Salmagundi Club, New York.
