Jim Heiser studied art and illustration at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York City, and earned his B.A. at Duke University.
Following a breif stint as an illustrator, Jim worked for a Fortune 500 printing and paper company. After a few years, Jim's love of art persuaded him to return to school. He earned a masters degree in art history with a concentration in old master drawing techniques. After graduation he focused on figurative drawings and exhibiting his artworkd in galleries and juried shows.
Rooted in the sun-splashed innocence of childhood, Jim Heiser's paintings capture the feeling of carefree summer days. His watercolors, set within the majestic framework of the Great Lakes, depict small adventures and simple joys. They evoke cherished memories of summers gone by and kindle a longing for summers to come.
